We're in the Army Now...

On September 6, 2008 Aaron left Arimo with his recruiter to travel to Boise to audition with the 25th Army Band. This was his second visit to the band, only this time it was to finalize a decision we had started in October of 2007. His presence was welcomed and he passed with flying colors.

On September 18, 2008 Aaron and I traveled to Boise so he could complete the next step in joining the Idaho National Guard...a trip to the MEPS office.

On September 19th, Aaron got up early and went downtown to jump through all of the hoops associated with entering the National Guard, the last part was to be offically sworn in...something Aaron's Dad was able to do, which was awesome, and we are very thankful that he was able to be here for this.

To make a long story even shorter...we're in the Army now, Aaron leaves for basic training in Georgia on May 26, 2009, and will complete AIT the following summer (2010). I can't even begin to describe all of the time and emotions that have gone into this decision and will continue to develop as this time gets closer. This will be a wonderful opportunity for Aaron to grow as a performer and who knows what the future holds
---Imagine the possibilities---

Thank you for the updates and the gorgeous pics of you two and the kids!
Wow, you are in the Army now.
Kind of neat that it's a tradition and Dad could do the honors too.

Take care. Let us know if there are any gaps in family visits that we can fill during the holidays. You guys are SO suprisingly close... only 2 hours.
And vice versa: you are always welcome to come and stay with us and do some shopping in the BIG city while we watch kids...

Wow you are in the Army, That is great that your dad got to swear you in. Congratulations on being part of the army band.
Also your daughters are so cute. I really like the picture at the bottom of the page, it is just full of fun.

Hmm, advice. Make sure anything they promised him is in his contract. Recruiters like to say things and then not follow through. If they owe you money and it doesn't get paid right, they take forever to get it straightened out, but if you owe them, they take it back right then! That is super exciting to be in the band though! If I think of anything else, I'll let you know! Oh, when he's gone at basic training, try to have something planned everyday. That way you don't get everything done in one day and then are bored the rest of the week.

WELCOME TO THE ARMED FORCES! I'm so happy for you. Email me anytime if you every need to "vent" about the military start up process. It was hard for me for the first 6 months, but now I love it.
Be sure to read "Married to the Military" before to long. It will help.
Congrats again! Aaron is so talented!

I talked to Bro. Strasser in our ward. He is in the band and said that he remebers seeing your name on the roster. He said you should fit right in with the band. He also said that they always joke that they will send the civil war reinactors to war before the band. Good Luck.
